Levi Gilbert - 17
My day usually starts with the call of our rosters out in the barn at 6:00 A.M. I then wake up and get ready for the day. At around 7:00 I go out and work in the fields. The fields are huge and there are bugs everywhere. It sometimes is difficult working in the field with my brothers, father is gone at war, we usually never see him. When we do he is always cranky and never tolerates complaining or fighting. One day a week normally Wednesday I go out and collect the eggs from the chicken and milk the cows. It is not easy work but sometimes I enjoy all of the quiet and being able to contemplate everything that has been going on in my life. Lunch normally comes after our chores, we aren’t aloud to eat anything without finishing them so we are motivated to do them. After lunch we go back in the field and work some more and then after about 4-5 hours we all go in for supper. The end of my day then consists of getting everyone in bed and then getting myself ready to sleep. That is normally my day when I don’t have to go away to college, I go Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. I really like being able to gain some independence for three days. I am green with mother almost all the time until I want to speak my mind. I always go to church not only because it is the law but I am interested in learning about stuff like that. Boston these days has been very busy with what the call the Boston Tea Party which just happened the past week, we are all working through the many crowds though.
